Practice and Research Activity

Paper performed at the Oriel Mostyn Gallery of Contemporary Art, Llandudno.

Some notes of reflection on the paper I delivered at the Oriel Mostyn Gallery in Llandudno on the 4th of March.

Many thanks to Lee Campbell from Loughborough Uni for putting together an interesting and thought provoking conference. With Julia Kristeva's theories of Abjection in theoretical support I ran through personal tales of abjection, searching for the line where abjection and humour meet.
The paper explored the potential of humour and honesty as a teaching strategy, with an enquiry into disgust as the context for the humour. The paper provoked a healthy balance between unease, debate and laughter.
