Commissioned by The Future Factory and Bonington Gallery, this durational performance considered our relationship with objects and the received meanings ascribed to them. During the piece passers by became an incidental audience, confronted with an intervention that invited a re-reading of the railings that obscured the view of a building site. Roses were taken from a barrow belonging to a third generation lace seller. The roses were tied to the railings over a period of several hours using Nottingham lace left over from a time when the industry thrived. The building site later became the Nottingham Contemporary Art Gallery.
